Though they are still considered to be early-career professionals, two Idaho National Laboratory employees, Noël Bakhtian and James Hanneman have consistently performed above and beyond expectation, and are being recognized as honorees of the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce 2018 Distinguished Under 40 Award.

On July 25, 2018, Dr. Mark Rudin was named the sole finalist for the position of president of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Rudin, a founding member on the CAES Steering Committee had been Boise State University’s vice president for Research and Economic Development since 2007. Before departing for his new position, Rudin addressed his time in the Treasure Valley, his thoughts on education, and CAES’s bright future.

Argonne National Laboratory hosted the ninth annual Modeling, Experimentation and Validation summer school in late July. It drew 48 nuclear engineering students from seven countries, including Idaho National Laboratory Graduate Fellow and University of Idaho graduate student Stephen Hancock. Hancock was joined by fellow Vandals Jordan Argyle and Kelley Verner.
